The hardness of these coatings is due to the interactions between the polymer molecules rather than the formation of a cross-linked network, which makes them very flexible. While most polyurethanes are reactive systems that require a hardener or crosslinker for the curing process, sensitive substrates require a non-functional or non-reactive flexible polyurethane system that cures by physical drying.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"prologue__line animated-element prologue__line--secondary\"><span class=\"animated animated--width\" data-animation-delay=\"0.5s\"><\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"prologue__txt animated-element sm\"><div class=\"animated animated--transform animated--opacity\" data-animation-delay=\"0.7s\"><p class=\"sm\">For flexible plastics, the coatings must protect the plastic substrate and be equally elastic. The adjustable flexibility of <strong>Desmolac <\/strong>PU binders makes them perfect for this job as they can be tailored for specific applications. Resins can also be used as auxiliary binders in coatings applied to other flexible substrates. On the other hand, adding a polyisocyanate such as Desmodur N75 is an effective way to increase the solvent resistance of coatings based on <strong>Desmolac <\/strong>physically drying binders.
