Desmocoll ®

Desmocoll polyester polyurethanes with a hydroxyl functional group are intended for the formulation of solvent adhesives. They are formulated for a range of activation temperatures and adhesive and lamination applications in the automotive, footwear, furniture and packaging industries.

Heat-activated adhesives have the advantage of being non-tacky at room temperature, which makes them attractive for many industrial manufacturing processes. In addition, the properties of polyurethanes are easily adjustable to meet different activation temperature requirements. Delivered as small granules, Desmocoll products have good solubility in many organic solvents and vary in terms of crystallization rate, heat resistance, adhesion to specific substrates and solution viscosity. Adhesives based on them can be used on a variety of substrates, including leather, rubber, textiles, wood, paper, many plastics (including polyurethane elastomers and PVC substrates), plastic foils, metals and aluminum foils. They are also suitable for common application methods, including spray application, and although most Desmocoll-based adhesives are heat-activated, formulations are also available for systems that do not require any activation.
